FINISH #7, ZOIE'S CHRISTMAS KITTIES

It may not be Christmas but I have a new quilt ready for the holiday season. The quilt pattern that I used is called "Zoie's Christmas Kitties". It is a Jan Patek pattern from "Pinecones and HollyBerries" part 2.
The applique is fused and machine stitched with a small buttonhole stitch in matching thread. I enjoyed picking out the fabrics for the bodies of the cats and their outfits.

You can see here the matching stocking that I made before this past Christmas. I made two of the stockings. Those were completed but I did not get the quilting done on the quilt top.

I pieced the back of the quilt because I didn't have enough of any one fabric. Plus, I think it gives interest to the back.
I am having a dental problem and trying to keep the pain under control until my appointment on Monday afternoon. That means I am not getting much stitching done because the pain medication makes me sleep or be so drowsy that I don't feel like doing anything. I have to have a root canal done. I am on an antibiotic. The pain is much more localized today. I am going to try taking just Tylenol this morning to see if that will keep the pain under control enough that I can sew. I don't want to sleep the day away again like I did yesterday. My only stitching from yesterday was to applique a couple of the simple baskets onto their background pieces. I can tell you that Monday afternoon can't get here fast enough.

Hope you have a great stitching weekend! Come back soon for another visit with me.

Karen

I feel your pain about the root canal. I am in the process of having my crown placed for a root canal too! I did nothing but sit on my couch for two days when it first happened. I hope you feel better soon.

  6. I feel your pain...I went through the same thing last fall with two teeth hurting at the same time and both needed RC but the dentist only found one at his first exam so the pain didn't go away after my first RC and we knew something else had to be going on.
I hope that your weekend is only mild pain (or none) and your RC goes well and you're back to your pain-free self very soon.

I feel for ya with your tooth pain. I am wearing a temp. crown on one that broke a couple of weeks ago. Feels like the other side of my mouth wants to have some teeth go too! Hope you can get your pain to subside completely until Monday!

  24. That's a real cute quilt. I really like the idea of pieced blocks on the backing as I think it gives the quilt a little extra interest - but for some reason I have never done it. I am going to have to remedy that soon.

  26. Good luck with your dental appointment tomorrow. I've been going through some things, and it just isn't any fun! I love your kitty quilt and the backing is great because it gives interest to both sides of the quilt!

  27. Oh I hate tooth aches! I broke a tooth and my appointment isn't until July so I'm hoping it doesn't start hurting. Ibuprofen is what my dentist says works better than tylenol and sometimes even better than pain meds...well your appointment is tomorrow so not much help now :( I hope it goes well and your pain goes away! I love that kitty quilt...if I ever get good at applique I will put that in my pile of "to do someday"!!

  28. I am so sorry about your tooth pain. I had a lot of dental work when I was younger and I feel like it's the worst of all pains, at least those that I've experienced. I hope you feel better soon.

The Christmas Kitties quilt is just the cutest thing.
