The quilt still needs borders and they are also applique. I have all the applique parts ready to fuse. Just need to cut out the borders. Then lots more machine stitching to do. This is meant to be a fun project for me, thus the machine applique instead of hand applique. I have plenty of hand applique on other projects awaiting me.The Liberty Garden book is a good one for my taste in quilts. There isn't one quilt in the book that I don't like.
Last night we stayed up to watch the shuttle launch. Living on the Space Coast of Florida makes viewing it from home fairly easy. It went up just before midnight and we watched it while standing in the pool. There was cloud cover so it was not the clearest launch we have ever seen. It lit up the sky like it was dawn. Very pretty.
Well, I had best get busy in the sewing room and see if I can get the main body of this quilt all put together today. I'm glad that you stopped by for a visit.

Oh what a pretty quilt...I love machine applique...it's fun and relaxing for me as well.
How wonderful to see a shuttle launch.
Your quilt looks lovely, I must have a look for that book.
My favorite block is the flower block in the lower left hand corner. One of these days I want to attempt a Jan Patek. The warm colors make me smile... Are you digging in the stash for each block?
How awesome to watch the launch right from your own backyard! What a thrill!
Another great quilt you unearthed!
I know I said it before, but I do love your colours and the quilt itself of course - look forward to seeing it completed.
And how lucky are you living within viewing distance of the shuttle launch site - that is something I would so love to see - for real that is, not just on TV!
Take care

Gorgeous quilt in the making, Karen. Our tastes are very similar.
I have never tried machine applique. Maybe I shouldn't either because I'd probably get hooked on that as well! (wink)
We used to watch the shuttle launches from our home in West Palm Beach as well when we lived in Florida.
I love it Karen! I love the little beehives. :-) I see this is another book I'm going to have to add to my list. :-) And how neat to be able to watch a launch from home! Thanks for the peek & Happy stitchin'!
