It's that time again. Time to select projects to finish during the month of February. I did not finish my angel stitchery project from January, so I am keeping it on the list for this month.
Hopefully, I can finish the table runner. It needs a few more squares and the second basket appliqued on.
I finished the stitching on "God Bless the Ewe SA" but still need to add some crayon color and then make it into a little wall hanging.
I am keeping my projects list small as I still am without much energy. I have started spending a little time at the sewing machine but not each day. Things feel more normal when I sit at the machine doing a bit of stitching. I am ignoring projects in the closet that need finishing. They will be there when I am ready.I made two simple pincushions. One for myself and one for a gift. I know the cushion is not cutesy nor glamorous. I have been saving selvedge edges for a little while. I selected some that are from two lines of reproduction fabrics. One line is "Rising Sun" from a Smithsonian quilt. The other is from the Sarah Johnson collection at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont. I used gray wool for the backing and stuffed them with crushed walnut shells. Those fabric lines were put out several years ago.
I drove for the first time yesterday in about two months. My first driving venture took me to a local quilt shop to look for a quilt book (which I did not find) and to the craft store for some DMC floss. The floss is for the "Sweet Nostalgia" stitcheries. I have been printing the design each month but have done nothing towards getting started on them.

Delightful list of projects. I'm glad you ventured out and about. I'm especially glad to hear that you've spent some time at your machine. Take good care, Karen.

Oh, I just love your pincushions. While I have been intrigued by projects made from selveges - this is the first that I can really say *wow* over!
Good to hear that you continue to make progress in your healing. It must have felt so good to be out on your own driving. Hang in there - recovery will be complete soon *s*
This is such a wonderful idea to use selveges, I really love it.
Also your table runner is SOoooo cute, I love the basket!!
Sounds like you are getting your "groove thing" back....Love the projects... It's the right time of the year that once they are completed you can display to enjoy.
So good to know you're getting around, especially to your sewing room.
Slow and steady, Karen, no need to rush. Those projects in your closet will be there.
Nice list of projects to look forward to this month! So glad you were able to get out...go easy though. :0) Today was my first day out of the house since last week with all this snow. Our area is just not equipped for the snow that fell...anyway...it felt odd to be out and about finally. I could image how it must have felt for you to go off on your own as well.
Wouldn't you just know that your frist drive would be to a quilt store....glad you are getting stroner every day.
Such a great list. It all seems doable and not overwhelming. Focus your engery into healing. I bet the outing was just the best thing for your spirits. I'm glad you motivated me on the angels, I have to do something with mine too!
your pin cushion is great - i love that you had crushed walnuts to fill it with. Where do you get them, or do you make your own?
Love the pincushion...and it must have felt so wonderful to drive again!
Good list and lovely projects...
Keep well!
Darling pincushion! Love the selvedge edges on it! Such cute projects you have going! And fluttering little hearts!
Good to know you are out and about a little and starting to feel somewhat normal.
Cute pincushion.
Karen, I really love your tablerunner. It sort of looks like a Pat Sloan pattern? Are the squares appliqued on? Way cool, girl.
Today was my 1st time behind the wheel since before Jan. 18th. Nice to be independent again...
Very cute stitchings! Neat pincushion too~ CW always catches my eye. Had to laugh at your first trip behind the wheel! Glad you could get out and hope you continue to get your energy back. :-)

I'm glad you were able to get out for a little while and that you are able to sit at the machine for a short time too. Sure signs of progress there. The pincushion is great and I love your stitcheries.
Those are great projects Karen and I'm glad you got out and about! I love your pincushions!
Lovely projects, a little bit of sewing will add up. It made me laugh to hear your first day of driving was to a quilt shop LOL.
Crispy
Love your pincushion, Karen. And wouldn't you know it...your first car trip after the surgery would be to a quilt shop. You're too funny!
What wonderful projects Karen! Can't wait to see your finishes. Love your pincushions -- and that on your first trip out, you hit the quilt shop -- you're a girl after my own heart LOL!
I like the pincushion. That's a perfect thing to do with those.
Looks like you've been busy over there.
You are so smart to take it easy. I believe it makes for faster recovery. Love that your first time out driving took you to a quilt shop. Gotta keep those priorities straight.
Love all your projects! The selvedge pillow is so cute...I must try to make one of those!
Your stitchery looks so wonderful, Karen. I'm loving it.
