CHRISTMAS QUILT-ALONG PART 2

The quilt top is finished.  If you haven't read the first post, the pattern I used is "Nativity Quilt" by Cheri Safiote-Payne.  I made a couple changes but not much.  I just finished sewing the last border on.  A good day of sewing.
I finished doing the embroidery of the words on the quilt this morning.  Then I went back to the machine to complete the stitching around the appliques.  And last, the borders.  I like the Folk Art look of this quilt.  Not everyone's cup of tea but it is mine.  I am happy with the piece.  Now to quilt it.

I hope this isn't a repeat of a comment I just left. I don't think it was successful. So, thanks for leaving a comment on my Civil War quilt-along blocks, you're very sweet. I love your Nativity quilt, it's naive quality is gorgeous and will be a wonderful addition to your Christmas decor!

Folk art quilts are just the best and this nativity quilt is wonderful. Your choice of fabric is awesome - love the bright inner quilt bordered by the darker homespuns. Very, very nice!

You have some lovely projects going in your quilty world!! Very yummy applique project. I love the appllique look, but I'm not confident in doing that at all. But after seeing yours, I feel a bit motivated to go back to my applique UFOs, especially the holiday theme ones... Thank you for a beautiful inspirations!!

Apparently the back is almost good as new! Hooray! What kind of machine applique do you do? A zigzag or blanket stitch? Matching thread or Invisifil or invisible thread? Inquiring minds want to know . ...

I love the quilt and your fabric choices. Just a curiosity ? Did you fuse the pieces and the machine applique or did you first do the applique by hand?
