In honor of the Red & White quilt exhibit in New York City, I worked on a red & white block this weekend. Here it is. Wish I could have gone to the show.
I drew my own pattern in Electric Quilt because the pattern in the quilt book had thick lines and it was hard to know where to trace. The pattern was called "Sundial". I don't know if this is an original block or traditional design from the past. It is a twenty inch block so quite large. It took a while to make. I don't plan on making any more of the blocks right now as other projects are calling to me.
Back to the sewing room.

gorgeous block!!! i love it too!
Great block. Will it be the center to a quilt or a wall hanging on its own?
That's a great block!
I wish I could have gone to that show too. I just love seeing all the pictures.
Your block is wonderful. It looks like it took a lot of work to finish. I admire your diligence.
It's beautiful.
I have several patterns that are like that. Where the line is fat but it shouldn't really be that way. Great job doing it on your own.
That is a really nice block! Besides the red and white which is a winner, the design is quite nice.
Pretty block. It would be great as the center of a medallion quilt.
Wow, Karen! Gorgeous block.
I just love 2 color quilts.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo just awesome!
You did a fantastic job! I bet even four of these together would be stunning.
I love two color quilts and have made 3 red & whites, so far. Love that block. It's a great start. Thank you for visiting my blog today. The pinwheel quilt is actually left over blocks from a quilt I just finished. The directions for the blocks made two pinwheels when I was expecting only one, LOL. A serendipitous mistake.

Neat block; you just can't go wrong with red and white!
Gorgeous. It looks very hard.
You are so productive. Happy
sewing.
Beautiful block, Karen. I just got back from the show in NYC and it was FANTASTIC! When you walked in, it almost took your breath away. It was so overwhelming.
Great block! Are you going to make it stand on it's own, or put it in a quilt?
Looks like a good start to a medallion quilt!! I've never done a red and white quilt, but one block is definitely something to think about.
Fabulous block - really love it! We really were at the show in spirit, weren't we???
Well if you can't go to the show, the next best thing is to make one yourself, right? This is really gorgeous!
I wish I could go to NY too. Your block you designed is gorgeous.
Beautiful! I wish I could have gone to the NY show too :)

Karen, that is a great block! It looks to me like you have a good working knowledge of EQ to create that block in the program, and then you stitched it beautifully! The one in your previous post is awesome also!
Gorgeous block, I love two color quilts, too. You did a great job with the design.
Just beautiful.
Very nice! I like this red fabric a lot more than the one you choose at first. I was thinking the same thing - to make a red & white quilt for the weekend of that exihibition, but it didn't happen to me. But as seeing yours, I feel like I really want to make one some time soon... Thank you for a beautiful inspirations :)))
Yummm ..... what a delicious looking block! Oh dear, I can see something more coming with this block!
Amazing. Love your round quilt blocks. This would make a great wall hanging- as is.
