I made this very same wall hanging. It was my first attempt at hand applique. I still need to have mime quilted as well. Have not decided how I want it quiled yet.
It turned out wonderful Karen. My early morning eyes kept seeing a second and third design effects before they registered the pinwheels....it was really cool :0)
The pattern I used is by Jan Patek and is in the book "Festival of Life". Maybe I will have this quilted and ready to display by next spring.

It sounds like you work the same way I do. You finish your tops quickly, and then it takes ages until they are quilted.
