BIRD SONG PART 1

I just finished my first block of Bird Song.  It is really the second part of row one.  My friend Jeanne did the applique on the first part.  I will share that with you when I sew the row together.

I like the red fabric with the black zigzag used for the wing.  Gives it some pizzazz.  I have had parts prepped for the applique for quite a while.  I even started stitching but put the project away for some reason that I don't remember.  Time to give it some attention.  The background for the block is one of the Moda twills.  A soft hand to it.  The pattern was designed by Jan Patek.

And while I am stitching on this, I am prepping applique for my quilts.  Never ending.

Check back with me again for further progress.

  10. Karen, I have that same kit! I've even been thinking about it lately, and wondering where I put it, because it was almost done. It was actually my first applique project. Now you've put me on a mission to dig it up.

  14. Karen,
Your wing fabric was truly inspired! Love it. Like the way you used that Moda twill for the background. I love that fabric, but could only imagine a tote bag or something. Perfect use for a background here, though. Good work.

  15. You are amazing. You always have something new to show.
Question, any idea where to get some of the zigzag fabric? I have been looking for some to use in the Liberty quilt pattern by Jan Patek and so far no luck.
As always, I look forward to your next blog.
