Ohio Connection Update

Time for more blocks for the Ohio Connection quilt.  I am chuckling at myself because as soon as I downloaded the pictures from the camera, I saw a big error in the star block.  I have to fix it but will show the block anyhow.

Next up is the Turkey Tracks block.  I decided not to piece the block but did it in applique instead.

The flower vine is not hard to stitch but I discovered that I needed to mark the rectangular space it should fit in.  The pattern is in parts and it does not line up like you expect it to.  Once I drew a rectangle in the sizer needed and traced pattern parts to make it fit, I could see what I needed to do.  It is easy to end up with a block that won't fit otherwise.

I think I am ready to trim blocks for the top part of the quilt and start sewing a section together.

Lori, Cathy, LuAnn, and Nancy should have blocks to share with you too.  Pay them a visit if you have time.

  1. What a challenging block and I love the turkey tracks. Getting all the blocks to fit in a sampler with all the different sized blocks takes constant thinking and attention. You sure don't want to have many do- overs!

  2. Too funny! I would leave it really, I would, but then I am quirky! I love the rectangular block and I understand totally about the measurement problem as I just had a similar one. Lovely blocks!

  3. Be sure to take notes on how you are putting it together! It looks seriously complicated.
Isn't it funny how we notice errors more in photos? Love your blocks, as usual.

  4. Love your new blocks! And what error? :) I'd leave it if it was me.
And I still wish I was finished up on (so many) other projects so I could have started this one with you!
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Took me a long time to find the "error of your ways" on that star block. It is such a cool looking design!
Turkey Tracks looks very good. I think it would be hard to make the block look that nice and lay that flat if it was pieced (at least it would be for me. But then, I wouldn't applique it, either. *LOL*).

  9. I especially like the Turkey Tracks block.the colors are great. Looks a little like an apple core, or part of one between the tracks.

  10. You really need to teach classes in applique. Your blocks are always so perfect! You are entitled to one little "oops" every now and then.

  11. GORGEOUS. Agreeing with Jeanna, you need to do classes for applique - I'll be your first student!

  13. That star block looks pretty challenging--no wonder a few points ended up going their own direction! I am always amazed when I stand back from something I've been sewing and see the boo-boos that were right in front of my face.
