QUILT INFO

I used an Electric Quilt applique design and modified it slightly to make this basket block.

Grapevine and Bird

A new block completed for the "A Bountiful Life" quilt.  This is the orientation that the block shows in the quilt but I think it looks upside down.  I may turn it to suit myself when it comes to sewing the blocks one to another.

  1. You did a great job on the block, Karen, but I have to say, this looks like the birds at my house after they hit a solarium window, thinking it is something they can fly through, but instead end up plunging head first into the flowerbed below. I'd have to switch the orientation or I would be sad about dead birds every time I looked at it. : (

  3. Great! I like it turned, that's how I did mine.

  4. :D Do we all bet that the original quilt maker later said: "Man! I put that block in upside down! Oh, well, it's staying now!" P.S. - I just love the bride and groom blocks from the other post. :D

  6. Beautiful bird with grapes, but it also seems to me that the block sits on his head.

  7. Love the colors and of course beautiful work! I am getting ready to do my 4th block, but I am going from the left row down, then the far right row down - YUP doing the easy ones first! Then I can bang my head up against the wall when I get started on the remaining ones in the middle and the borders - wonder what year that will be! LOL

  8. Look at all those grapes you've been appliquéing! I think I'd rotate that block as well. Fantastic finish.

  11. Beautiful block! Maybe the quilter accidentally sewed it in upside down... but was too tired to pull out the seem ripper and fix it? lol!

  12. I thought the same thing about that block when I made it. Then my girlfriend pointed out that birds swoop down to grapes.. they don't swoop up. So I ended up putting it in the quilt with the bird on the top. To each his own. Enjoy the Bountiful Life journey! I am stopped at the borders.

  13. I have to confess that I turned the block when I made this quilt. I decided that the original maker accidently put it in her quilt the wrong way--like I manage to do all too often--lol! Even the grapes are going the wrong way! Your block is beautiful no matter how you decide on the orientation.
