QUILT INFO

I used an Electric Quilt applique design and modified it slightly to make this basket block.

Late To the Party

I am late to the party.  Most people that wanted to make the "Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt have long made their blocks and many already have the quilting done.  I saved the block patterns and, though I had good intentions, never started.  I felt I did not have enough of the type reds, greens & yellow fabrics to make it and also use in another quilt.  Recently, I was finally able to find some fabrics to add to that particular stash and a start made.  Here are the first three blocks.

Some of the block patterns are a bit quirky and I like quirky.  For instance, the leaves on the second block.  One look and you will see what I mean.

I have another block started and another prepped.  I am going to try to stay focused on stitching the blocks and not let it drag out for a long time.

  1. Your blocks are so beautiful Karen - especially love the pineapples and your fabrics are perfect! I am also one of those who saved the blocks to make later - and I never get tired of this one! Now you have me itching to start it too lol:)

  7. I say you should be able to go to the party whenever you choose! Here you go with another gorgeous applique project.
That is an interesting touch in the second block--the random missing leaves. And my goodness, the green parts in that third block look extremely fiddly! Nice job!

  10. Oh yes Karen, don't ya know it's ok to be 'fashionable' late! Seems I'm pretty fashionable! I too have this pattern and held up by not having the right reds and such, but I REALLY like how yours is turning out. Keep going!

  12. Quirky is a fun thing. Starting this pattern now might just get a few more Quilter's to take that pattern out and start.

  15. Your blocks are great, I love quirky, that what makes us all so special, we all have certain ideas and yours are great! Look forward to see more. I am staying rather focused on cleaning up the room and finishing up small things to get started on bigger. Have a great day my friend. Hugs, Marie
