Early American Life Block Two

Block two for the "Early American Life" pattern.  I was about to forget that today is the scheduled day for Cathy and myself to share out blocks.  I chose to applique the triangles onto the basket rather than piece the units and then applique the whole to the background.  Cathy has eliminated the triangles for a more simple approach.  She has her block posted on her blog and can be seen here.

I have been doing a lot of applique but it is not something I can share yet.

It is going to be in the low 80's today.  Certainly not the kind of weather to make a person think about working on Christmas projects or Christmas shopping.

  1. Great idea to applique the triangles. Your block turned out so nice. We are actually having a heat wave of sorts...a high of 50. Wish we were having your weather. Hugs

  2. Beautiful! I love that you appliqued the triangles. That would have been my choice too! I love Cathy's simpler block too. It will be fun to watch them both progress.

  3. Oh what a cute little block! I love that you appliqued your basket and it turned out great

  4. I just love your basket and you did a fine job on the appliqueing the triangles to it--!! and yes it is hard to get into the Christmas mood living here in 80 degree temps--hey--did get the christmas stuff down from the closet shelf--now if the elves would show up and decorate for me that would be great!!! (at least get the tree up and the lights on it--dread that job!!)
    enjoy the moments, di

  5. Karen, I just love your basket...so I drafted one too! Mine is different...you guys are inspiring!!

  6. Karen Me encanta este bloque!!!
Que buena idea la de aplicar los triángulos.
En mi próxima cesta lo haré de esta manera,
Todas las cesta me encantan, pienso que siempre te lo digo
Tu quilts de cabecera bonito para la temporada

  7. Love your header and block 2. Yes, we have been in the high 70s here in Texas and clear skies so not very Christmasie. Believe it or not (after Harvey) we need rain badly.

  8. It's been warm in NC too.... but not in the 80's! I like your new block and Cathy's is pretty, too.

    1. Oh, and I love the block in the header! Gorgeous!

  9. That blocks is super sweet! Happy December! I wish it was 80 degrees here.

  10. Lovely blocks.

I agree that the weather certainly doesn't put me in the Christmas spirit. The tree is up but I'm still surrounded by boxes of decorations.

  11. Nice! Love the colors. Still have in and have out of a "winter"? here

  12. Another cutie! I love the way the appliqued triangles look--very smart of you!

  13. Another fun pattern to follow along....I love your Holiday Header photo as well :)
