Early American Life

Cathy and I have begun working on a new project.  We plan to share a block on the 15th and 30th of each month.  The pattern has 16 blocks.  We are using an older pattern called "Early American Life" which was designed by The Country Quilter.  Pattern is no longer available.  This is what it looks like.

My first block is one of two different style Thistle blocks in the pattern set.  I am attempting to use what I have in stash though I purchased the background fabric.  The fabric is one of the Di Ford fabrics.

If you have the time, pay Cathy's blog a visit and see her block.

  1. I love your block. I tried to do all those little zig zags and just had a problem so I did an easier version. I love how yours turned out

  2. Very pretty; I like Cathy's colors, too. That rooster really jumps out for me on the quilt. I can't wait to see you two do those blocks!

  5. I read Cathy's comment at the top, and it confirmed my suspicions. The jagged edges of the flowers were the first thing I noticed in the block, and it looked like it would be hard to do. You appear to have mastered it!

  11. Such a charming quilt - a classic design. I immediately thought of one of my favorite publications - Early American Life - the quilt looks like it would be right at home on the pages. Looking forward to watching this progress.
