This is the first block from the pattern "The Milkmaid's Album" which was designed by Betty Alderman. Out of print pattern.

Early American Life Block Eight

Number eight of "Early American Life".  The pattern lists this as "Floral Motif".  I suppose it could be a flower.  It has sort of a tulip shape .  I have no idea what kind of flower it is supposed to be.  I used wool for the tiny gold circles.  They were too small for me to even think about stitching with cotton fabric.

I am wondering how Cathy did her block.  Check here if you want to check it out.

Basket Blocks and More

I am participating with a Facebook group that is making basket blocks.  Whatever basket design or designs that each person wants to do.  The group started in January so I am late to the party.  I have plans to make many more basket blocks than the group plan is as I want a larger quilt and probably strippy style.  Here are the fifteen blocks I have completed using mostly Jo Morton fabrics.  The baskets will be set on point (or at least that is my current plan).  I was inspired by the basket blocks that Wendy (The Constant Quilter) is making.  You can see some of her blocks here.

I completed two more blocks for the Lori Smith design quilt that I am working on.

I received a handmade gift from a fellow blogger.  A needle case.  The cover is made from selvedge edge strips.  They are edges from reproduction fabrics.  Selvedge edges on quilt fabrics are so much more interesting in recent years.

I like the little notebook in the back.  That can be very handy for whatever notes a person might want to make.

I am almost over the severe gout attack.  I am trying to follow a diet that will help prevent future attacks.  I don't want to go through that again.

Pineapple Block

Today I am sharing with you the pineapple block for the "Early American Life" quilt I have been working on.  The pattern is actually designed for fusible applique but I am doing needle turn instead.  Towards the bottom of the pineapple, I joined  a couple sections together as they were such small pieces.  Other than that, I was able to needle turn the pineapple sections.  The quilt design is based on early American stencil designs.

Take a minute to visit Cathy's blog.  She is simplifying the block designs.  I was oh so tempted to do the same on this block.

Old and New Quilt Projects

I am sharing pictures of quilt blocks today plus a quilt top that I just finished putting together.  I made another block for "It's A Bountiful Life".  I have lost count of how many are done now.  Maybe ten blocks.

Next, I started working on a Lori Smith design called "Homage to American Quilt Makers: Album Quilt".  I like the designs as they have a folk art look.

Amd a finished quilt top.  The pattern design is by Jeni From the Willow".  It was a freebie  in 2014/2015 called "A Life of Plenty".  Here is a link to the patterns.  I would have liked for it to be a bit larger.  It is not really long enough to cover up with unless you are a short person.  I did not want to put a huge border on it to make it larger so left it as designed.

I am still recovering from a severe gout attack but it is much better than it was.  And a cold on top of that that is about gone.  I am ready to feel good again.
