Early American Life Block Eight

Number eight of "Early American Life".  The pattern lists this as "Floral Motif".  I suppose it could be a flower.  It has sort of a tulip shape .  I have no idea what kind of flower it is supposed to be.  I used wool for the tiny gold circles.  They were too small for me to even think about stitching with cotton fabric.

I am wondering how Cathy did her block.  Check here if you want to check it out.

  4. Nice block. Those little gold circles would be a challenge in cotton for me. I really like the colors in this one.

  6. This is a really unique block, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. It looks so pretty in the patriotic colors. It almost looks like fireworks.

  10. Using wool for those tiny circles is a great idea. I've done that before on a couple projects. It sure saves tons of time and adds another texture.

  12. I don't remember how big these blocks are but even if it were a 12" block, those gold circles would be so small. Your block, as they all do, looks fabulous. Such fine work you do.

  18. The addition of wool is so nice...even using the Perfect Circles templates, that tiny would be a challenge. Have you ever used ultra suede? I had some very thin bird feet to make and it worked very well. I don’t think I could have appliqued anything that narrow.
