Here is the final section for the main body of  the "Comfort and Joy" quilt is done.  This was an easy one to do.  The tree is made from wool and the rest cottons.

Here is a picture of the inside of the quilt and the first border.  After this is an applique border.
We are enjoying our company so not much sewing happening at my house.  I will post again in a few days.

Yesterday, Mary of Quilt Hollow sent me a link to a free pattern by Kim Diehl for a small snowman quilt.  Here is the link for the pattern and cutting instructions.  Here is the link for the applique templates.  It is a cute pattern and I do like snowmen quilts.  So I got right onto it and made the quilt top.  Fun to make.

Maybe you would like to make one too.  The applique could be done the fusing method, regular needle turn as I did, or using wool.  Give it a try.

I completed a friendship basket quilt.

The design started with the six inch basket blocks made by a group of people.  I wanted to make a quilt using them where it did not end up too large or too small.  I played with settings in Electric Quilt.  I settled on using an applique medallion center.  The applique design is from an Electric Quilt add-on software for Baltimore style blocks.  I originally thought I would use blues only for the applique but it seemed a bit dull.  So the addition of the red flowers with yellow centers and the green leaves seemed appropriate.  A narrow red border next and then the basket block border.  I played with the arrangement of the baskets.  I kept coming back to the one where the basket handles faced in towards the center of the quilt.  I intended to use a wide red border after this but it overwhelmed the basket block border.  A more narrow border did the same thing.  I decided to leave the quilt as is and use a red binding.

It is nice to have a finish!

I haven't been around in Blogland as much as usual.  My knee problems have kept me from spending as much time in the sewing room.  Sometimes I can't sit at the computer as long as I normally would.  But I am still plugging away on my projects.  I also am in gift mode and can't show some things.  Just a quick picture to show you that I am sewing and doing handwork.

I hope to have more to show you soon.

I am finally posting a picture of the "A Little Porch Time" section that should have been finished the end of October.  A lot of stitching to make this section.  It is over 60 inches long.  This month's section requires a lot of applique stitches to make it also and I have not started it yet.
I completed the last five applique blocks for "Mrs. Lincoln's Sampler Quilt".  I have not made any of the pieced blocks.

I am still having a problem with my knee.  It was getting better and I was able to get around without the walker.  Still with a limp but without the walker made accessing things in the sewing room easier.  Then two nights ago, I rolled over in bed and the pain set in again.  It feels like muscles tightening.  So back to the walker again.  I spent time laying on the bed yesterday.  Today I am able to put some weight on the leg but am still being very cautious.  Not fun.  I plan on sitting and doing some stitching today but no housework type stuff.

We are having cooler weather.  We have company coming Thanksgiving Day and stay for several days.  I hope the weather improves for them as they love warm weather.

Have a good day!

The quilt I am working on from the pattern "A Little Porch Time" has fallen behind  a bit.  Three others in the group working on the same quilt posted their star flower basket sections yesterday.  Mine is still under construction.  A lot of stitching on this part of the quilt.
I must have been in a dark and dreary mood when selecting fabrics for this section of the quilt.  There are four more star flowers to add to it.  I think that will brighten it up a bit.  And a yellow butterfly to add to the basket.
It was hard creating the background for the section.  Hard to get to the fabrics on the shelves.  My walker did not fit well into the plaid section and my knee could not tolerate standing to sort through fabrics.  Good news is that my knee feels better.  I am still limping and using the walker but not having nearly as much pain as the past week brought.

You will find me in my stitching chair today working on this basket of flowers.
