Shenandoah Valley Botanical Quilt BlockNine

Sunflowers this time for the Shenandoah Botanical Quilt Sew-Along.

The original block from the antique quilt appears to have used the same yellow fabric for the petals and the center.  I chose to use two with the center being a check fabric.  I thought it would give it a slightly more prim look.

You can see blocks made by other quilters on a special site located here.  Now on to block 10.

Lovely little block. I love the way the green peeks out from between the sunflower petals.

Your two fabrics give the sunflower great dimension! Looks like a pretty intense block to applique. Excellent work, as usual!

Your applique is so perfect! I think I need to invest in a steamroller to get mine to lie flat! I love the gingham fabric in the centers. They look like real sunflowers!

Your chocolate bsckground continues to be one of my faves. I like the center being s different fabric and the checks do give it a great prim look. Well done as always.

Such a beautiful sunny block, the checks for the center are the perfect choice, like the seeded center of a sunflower.
