Cotton Flower and Two Finishes

Today I am sharing a picture of the Cotton Flower block from the "Early American Life" pattern Cathy and I have been working on.  I enjoyed doing this one.  It is the sixth block we have stitched for the quilt.  Ten to go.

Take a minute to visit Cathy's blog to see her version.

I have two completed quilts to share with you today.  The first is the "Piece and Plenty" quilt from a free Moda University pattern in 2008.  I made three of these quilts.  The third one took a while for me to complete as I really don't fancy making three from the same pattern.   Mary from Quilt Hollow quilted it.  It took quite a while for me to remember to do the binding.

And a picture of the backing.  A Blackbird Designs fabric.

The snowman quilt is from a Jan Patek pattern called "Pinetree Ridge".

I used a Country Threads snowman pattern to make a large block to add to the backing.  This quilt used up a lot of my medium blues in stash.

The gout in my left foot is better but the right foot is protesting and making it difficult to wear a shoe and to walk.  I think I can prep some applique today though to have something to sit and stitch on.

The strawberries block has been complete for several days but I have been suffering through a major gout attack.  I am on the mend after a doctor visit but still  a ways to go.

The strawberry block is from the book pattern "A Bountiful Life".  The red ran a bit when I rinsed the block but I feel confident it will wash out in the long run.  I will wash it soon with some color catchers.  I love strawberries.  My favorite fruit.

Thank you for paying my blog a visit and I love to read your comments.

The Milkmaid's Album Quilt

I took a quick picture of "The Milkmaid's Album Quilt" top so you can see how the blocks are set.
It is square even though it looks a bit off in the picture.

And, for anyone that wants to know, it is an out of print pattern by "The Country Quilter".

Early American Life Block Five

The fifth block is the "Corn" block.  Lots of little pieces.  Cathy is simplifying some of her designs so I am anxious to see how she has done this block.  Below is mine.

Here is a link to Cathy's blog.  Cathy has been dealing with Bell's Palsy and not able to stitch a lot but is still trying to keep up with her quilt projects.

Enjoy your day and take time to sew a bit.

The Milkmaid's Album Quilt Update

I managed to get two through four of the four blocks for "The Milkmaid's Album Quilt" finished.  (Pattern is out of print and is by Betty Alderman).  The blocks will be set with simple sashing as shown on the pattern.  I cannot do that just yet as my sewing area is set up for getting patterns prepared and backgrounds marked for a Lori Smith folk art style quilt.  I know if I put the pattern making supplies away, the Lori Smith pattern will go by the wayside too easily.

And to remind you what the first block looks like.....

I am stitching on another of the "Bountiful Life" quilt blocks.  This one is all strawberries in pink and red.

A Bountiful Life

I took time to do block eight for the "A Bountiful Life" quilt (I am using Karen Mowery's pattern).  I have had it prepped for a couple months and just now taking time to work on it.Strawberries, pears, cherries, grapes, and apples.  The grapes in this block are of the white variety.  The quilt has a lot of fruit in the blocks.

I also stitched the first block for Kathleen Tracy's mystery quilt which she is presenting in her Facebook group.  A free design.  The mystery quilt is meant to be of the scrappy variety can be done with a more select group of fabrics if a person so desires.  I am going scrappy.

Stop back again soon to see what I am working on.  I have many projects in the works.

The Milkmaid's Album Quilt

I am working on a four block album style quilt using a pattern called "The Milkmaid's Abum Quilt".  It is an out of print pattern by Betty Alderman.  I have enlarged the block designs by 140% for ease of applique.  Here is block number one.

I just finished prepping block number two.  I like the folk art look of the designs.
