Dearest Boy Block Update And A New Quilt Finish

The 30th has rolled around fast.  I stitched my block on Sunday evening.  I was about to forget about doing it.  This one is a tree block though I didn't see it as trees at first glance.

My "Old Voices New Impressions" quilt has the binding attached and I am calling it a finish.  The pattern is by Jeana Kimball.  The sunshine has caught a corner of the quilt in the picture but I think you can see the quilt just fine.  I loved every minute of stitching these blocks.

I used left over fabric for the backing plus added in a couple Civil War general panels that I had in stash.  I have more of those panels stashed away.  I thought I was purchasing yardage but it was panels instead.

I am working on sewing sashing to more Jeana Kimball blocks that I made a couple years ago.  I hope to get the inside of the quilt together so I can work on the borders.

That's it for now.

Your block is beautiful. Congrats on finishing another quilt. Mine is still on the needs to be quilted pile. Hugs

The fabric you chose for the center of the tree block really sets off the block. How nice to get the Jeanna Kimball quilt done. So much work. It is lovely.

What a happy, beautiful quilt, Karen. You are such an example of doing what you love and being really good at it!
Great use of the panels on the back. :) I think I even have one of those somewhere in my patriotic fabrics.

Your applique quilt is stunning. Are you going to quilt it yourself? It's another example of your lovely work.

I love the fabric choices, beautiful block and your quilt is absolutely gorgeous.
I am hoping to do more larger quilts after the holidays, and maybe finish a couple before.

I didn't see the applique as trees either--look like leaves to me. In any case, it's a beautiful block. Your finished quilt is wonderful!

I didn't see them as trees either until Cathy mentioned it. I love your Jeana Kimball quilt. She does design the best blocks! Love the backing too! Had never seen the generals panel. They are perfect for this!

Hello! How nice to have another quilt done. Your applique is so beautiful. I have picked it up again, doing ok except for doing needleturn inner sharp corners. They end up a bit rounded. I'm making Dear Daughter and Noah & Matilda. But that French General Sampler pattern is calling my name. My sister bought the kit so I would make it for her, and of course I want one too. Haha.
Happy sewing!
