A Perfect Garden

A new quilt project.  I am working on "A Perfect Garden".  It is a design from an out of print book by Terry Clothier Thompson called "The People of the Plains".  I am using red, green and cheddar fabrics.  I have four blocks done and they are large ones.  Twenty inches finished.  The design is nine blocks and border.  There will be sashing between the blocks.

A close up of the cherry wreath block.

The tomato block.

The acorn block.

And last is the pears.

I am often asked what type of applique I am using and it is needle turn.  You will find me in my chair today stitching on the strawberry block.

They are all beautiful, and her patterns are nice to make. I think I have one of her books from a collection that Kelley gave me.

What fun blocks! You gave us all the info, but what size are they? It helps put it in perspective. The fruit looks huge!

This really is a perfect garden! I'd love to have some of those tomatoes!!! :-) Needleturn applique is what I use too... it has the least amount of prep and will outlast many washings. Happy stitching!

A beautiful garden in the midst of a very chilly and snowy morning - It is no doubt warmer where you are! My granddaddy grew cherry trees so that block speaks to me.

Those pears look so yummy. I’m with Janet, wish I could also pull up a chair next to you and sew and chat the afternoon away.

Wish I could be sitting in a cozy chair stitching along with you. I'm doing binding today--a little boring, but I hope to binge some old DVR recordings. I'm loving the fruits and nuts--they are beautiful!

I do needleturn applique too, tho it may not be the original needleturn method as I do use applique pins. Love that pear block so much!
