April 15th "Dearest Boy" Update

A quick update today on "Dearest Boy" progress.  I made a double tree block which is a substitute block for the double tree block pattern that the designer used.  I should have pinned the bottom corners of the block for the picture or maybe it is the angle of the camera shot.  The bottom edge looks more narrow than the top edge in the picture.  I don't claim to be a good photographer.

I will add a picture of the pattern cover so you can see what the tree block pattern was.  I began piecing the diamond shapes but the size seemed to be off as I progressed.

I think we have nine blocks left to create plus the borders.

I have more to share but will do a separate post in a few days.

I love what you came up with. We used similar colors. Hugs, Cathy

Oh yes, I can see why you substituted your trees. I like them better than the original!

I like tree blocks. I like both yours and the pattern's trees. Smart to not over complicate things for yourself.

Great choice for a replacement!!

It made me smile that none of you did the original trees. The pattern must have been really off. Your trees are lovely and look like pine trees. I'm not sure the original trees really look like oak trees.

I cannot imagine doing such small piecing and doing it so well, love your version.

You chose a great tree design. Don't blame you for finding a sub!

The trees are great! Now you just need that pretty cow to go over them! ☺️☺️☺️

Both trees have lots of work. Yours look good and will be a good substitute.

I sounds like you all dodged a bullet by not making those crazy trees! Yours look great and will be a nice replacement--good call!

Too bad the pattern didn't work out. Your trees look wonderful though and should definitely hold 'their spot'.:)

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make it work. Great job

I love those original trees but I can see why you would substitute them for the ones you made -- which really are fabulous trees. It seems like Dearest Boy has had more than few problems with the accuracy of the patterns. I've noticed that you're not the only one who has mentioned it. You're doing a good job overcoming the challenges, Karen! Your blocks look great.
