February Update - Mary Brown and More

The end of February and time for a "Celebrating Mary Brown" update.  A lot going on in this block.  Three birds and the squirrel.  I enjoyed selecting fabrics for the birds.

A finished quilt made from a Jo Morton pattern.  The top was made in 2019 so not a long held unfinished project.  The name of the quilt pattern is "Parkersburg" and found in the book done with Kim Diehl called "Simple Friendships".  The blocks were enlarged a bit for a more useable quilt size.

The second quilt finish is "Home to  American Quiltmakers".  The pattern is by Lori Smith.  I just checked her website and find that the pattern is still available.  I substituted one of the blocks with the willow tree from her Folk Art pattern.  I like this quilt very much.

I completed a quilt top and pieced a backing.  I plan on taking this to the local quilt shop for machine quilting.  It will join three other quilt tops already there waiting in line.  The pattern used is "Lady Bird" and is by Jan Patek.  I like the birds on this one.

A block for the "Pleasant Grove Primer" which is also a Jan Patek pattern. I am close to having all the blocks done but will have applique on the border to do.

I am going to try to create a link up for the other participants.  It has been a long time since I used one so will see how it goes.

Stop back on March 1st for a Buhl Quilt update.

Karen

Oh my gosh--look at you go! So many great projects. I love how you used that column print for the large bird in the first photo. I have a piece of that, but haven't found a good use for it yet. Seeing all these photos makes me want to get out my Jan Patek books and start a new quilt!

You have a real talent for combining the pattern and the colors of fabrics. The large bird with the striped fabric is a great example. You do have so many different styles going on in different projects. It seems like a good idea. It keeps you thinking and planning.

Your Mary Brown block is one of my favorites. I love the bird's wings and especially the long tail. This is the block I want to make next because it is so pretty and interesting. Love the Jan Patek quilt. I seem to keep making her stuff but I sure don't keep much of it around. I've got to make more things that I can keep.

That Mary Brown block is spectacular! I always love the fabrics you choose for your applique blocks. You have been quite busy getting your tops together. Can't wait to see them after they are quilted.

I love your Mary Brown block! What a fabulous choice for the tail and wings on the large bird. Parkersburg is a wonderful finish. Your Lori Smith top is beautiful. I love Jan Patek’s patterns, though I have only made one.

Wonderful fabric choices on the Mary block. I didn’t remember this one and had to go back and look. The way you have been cranking out finishes, you can't have much left to complete. Love the Jan Patek top with the birds.. Love all quilts with bird motifs. I have never seen the Pleasant Grove Primer pattern, but I really like that block.
