Flowers Quilt, Mary Brown Block, and More

It is May 30th and time to share another "Celebrating Mary Brown" block.  It is not the block design I should have done but that block did not do well.  It is a feathered star block and is not laying real well nor quite the right size.  So instead, I have done a block with many leaves and will debate with myself about the failed block.  I look forward to seeing what block design my stitching buddies have done this month.

The "Flowers" quilt is completely done.  A lot of quilters have made this same  design in the last couple years.  It was a sew-along on one of the Prim Facebook groups for one.  I had stitched my blocks before that sew-along, so it has been a while getting it quilted and bound.

I have started a new quilt project.  One block pieced using fabric from the Abby Rose line by Robin Pickens.  A very different choice for me but a good one for a family member gift.

I am watching "Thirteen" on Amazon Prime.  Quite suspenseful.  And doing applique stitching while watching.

Your block looks great. I have mine prepped. Time got away from me. I love how your flowers quilt looks quilted. Mine is in the pile to be done. What is the pattern you are using for your new quilts. Hugs

Your Mary Brown block is lovely. The leaves and design has a lot of movement and interest. I'm going to try a feathered star someday but know it will be challenging.
What a beautiful finish for your flower top. I love all the colors and fabric choices.
I have been sewing with Robin Pickens fabrics. A fun way to enjoy some brighter fabrics. I really enjoy her art on fabric.

Well, your feathered star may not have worked out for now, but all those leaves in your applique block are very impressive! Love the stylized flowers in the quilt top--so fun!

Like the block with all the leaves and know that had alot of applique stitches in it--
your quilt top looks really prim and nice color combo's there --
and that Abby rose block is striking--
I have a charm pack of that line that I won and I did order 2 larger pc to go with it--
wonder if I will ever get something done with it--

Your Mary Brown block is lovely. I think I'm going to like making that block. Sorry, to hear about the other block, so frustrating to have it not turn out after all that work. Your "Flowers" quilt is gorgeous. I love how everything just goes together. The border is narrower than the one I put on mine. I think I like your border size better. The pretty block at the end of your post is a fun one. I've made a similar block in a quilt and really enjoyed making those blocks. I would do it again. Sometimes I'm so grateful to be done with a project that there's no way I'd every make something like it again. But, this block is one of the two I just love and would gladly make 30 more for a quilt.

That is a lot of leaves on your Mary Brown block. Really pretty! Feathered stars can be a pain--I usually have to foundation piece part of it.
Loving your Flowers quilt. Such warm, inviting colors.
Wow--I'd say that is out of character for you, but it is a beautiful block. Not a simple block, either. Look forward to seeing it come together.

Another beautifully done applique block - so many leaves! I don’t see much in the way of orange fabric in my own stash - sure like your new block and whenever I can get back into a quilt shop, may have to seek out that luscious color!

Your flowers quilt is beautiful. And I love the colors in the new quilt block. Will the new quilt be all pieced, no applique'?

Wonderful work and I have made a note of the Halloween pattern which our house group might like though not Halloween colors as it is not such a big thing in the UK. Thank you for sharing and giving helpful information too. Mary

Oh my! Look at all those little leaves. Beautiful! I hope you can rescue the other block. I love the Flowers quilt, so nice to have a finish. I have seen a few other quilters working on this one. I have put up my applique projects for a bit, trying to finish up some other projects.

Your flowers quilt is fantastic looking! I love all the applique, your specialty of course.:) What a great looking applique block at the top of the post--with all the leaves? Great choice. I can't seem to get feathered stars to work out for me either. Just not my forte at all!

I love your header photo, Karen. It is delightful!
Your Mary Brown block looks great. What a lot of leaves it has. Leaves and flower are all perfection!
Congrats on finishing your Flowers quilt. Mine's still unfinished but on my list, hopefully to finish this year.
I love your Wheel of Fortune block. It is a block pattern I've loved since I first saw it.

Love all of those Mary Brown leaves. I am afraid that I didn't get a block done this month. Prepped one but decided I needed to use another method of stitching it. Love your flowers quilt. I did mine with the group, but haven't had it quilted yet. Your new start is lovely. The fabrics are a bit different for you, but very nice.
