Mary Brown Update Plus Finishes

Time for July's Mary Brown update.  This time I stitched the left corner section which involves three blocks.  You will also recognize last month's sunflower block as I needed to sew it in to complete the corner.  The left corner section has a red bird.  This one has the blue bird.

Quite some time ago, I stitched sixteen "Simple Life" blocks from a pattern by Norma Whaley.  Instead of the blocks being in a crate in a closet, I decdided it was time to do something with what I had completed.  A quilting friend helped me lay the blocks out and decide on sashing and border fabric.  Here is the completed top.

Here are close up picture of the blocks.

Next up is a finish.  The "ABC Sampler" from Lori Holt's pattern.  The blocks require many, many connector corners.  It was a fun sew done with my quilting friend.  We got together once a week to sew on our quilts.

Love the typewriter in this section.

I used some cute ABC fabric for the backing.

Next up is another finish.  I made this quilt from a design Found in "Nuts and Berries" which is a Blackbird Designs book.

Lots of quilt projects in the works in my sewing room!  I am heading to my comfortable chair to stitch and watch television.

All are wonderful quilts. Mary Brown is on my "some day" list. But, I believe the last quilt is from Nuts and Berries by Barb Adams & Alma Allen. You can see my version at http://www.factsfacts.com/quilts/FriendshipFerns.htm

The culmination of so many hours of beautiful needlework! The Mary Brown blocks look wonderful. I also love Norma's designs. The quotes she adds are good thoughts.
The Lori quilt is colorful and cheerful. That is certainly a great way to enjoy time with a friend. Lovely finishes! Thank you for the quilt show!

Wowza--so many beautiful finishes! I love them all. You are really on a roll getting things done. I haven't been doing much on finishing--just starting. I've cut out three quilts, and sorted a ton of scraps that have been laying around. It's probably time to get back to the old stuff now!

The Mary Brown block is really lovely. I especially like the fussy cutting on the bird's wings. It really adds a lot to that section. I've never seen the Alphabet Quilt, what a sweet pattern. And, you're right, the typewriter is so cute. You have really been busy finishing things up. What a good use of all this stay at home time. The Norma Whaley quilt is one of my favorites. She used to post regularly on her blog but there hasn't been anything for quite a while. I know she was going in for surgery. I hope she's well. Your applique always looks so nice. I think I'm burned out on doing applique for a while. I hope it doesn't become a permanent thing. . .

Beautiful MB blocks. Love the wing fabric on the bird. Hmmm...think I started that Norma Whaley quilt. Good for you forgetting the into a top. The LH quilt is adorable with perfect backing fabric. The final quilt is soothing and reminds me of our Prim Appliqué days.

What a loaded post--and it is all good.
Great fabric choices in the Mary Brown blocks. I especially like the blue bird's wings.
Everything looks so good, Karen. You always do quality work.
The Lori Holt looks like something outside your usual, but very happy and fun--especially to sew along with a friend.
